On February 20 2024, at the same time as the inauguration of the new Pekalongan City Regional Library building on Jalan H. Sabrawi Tirto Pekalongan, the Head of Pekalongan City BPS signed an MoU for the Statistics Corner with the Head of the Pekalongan City Archives and Library Service witnessed by the Mayor of Pekalongan, Achmad Afzan Arslan Djunaid .
The need for data is increasingly important, both for research purposes and to ensure the validity of information in society. To obtain this data, public literacy is needed in the form of a Statistics Corner which is integrated with the library service system.
The Statistics Corner is a room in the regional library which is used to serve the public in accessing BPS data, both printed data and digital data. The existence of this Statistics Corner will make it easier for the government and the community to make good and measurable plans, because this Statistics Corner will collect all the data that will be needed for planning.
The Statistics Corner is a priority program from BPS Pekalongan City in the context of improving public services related to bureaucratic reform, improving data services to the public quickly, easily and cheaply. The Statistics Corner is located on the 2nd floor of the Pekalongan City Regional Library Building along with circulation services (registration and borrowing/returning books), general collection, computer laboratory, discussion room, reading room and secretariat.
It is hoped that the Statistics Corner can raise statistical literacy for the people of Pekalongan City, besides that the Pekalongan City BPS can translate various figures and statistical data produced in language that is down to earth and easy for the general public to understand.
