Pekalongan City Mooring Hot Air Balloon Festival 2024

It has become a tradition for Pekalongan City residents to fly hot air balloons during the month of Shawwal to welcome Eid. However, as time went by, there was a ban on flying hot air balloons wildly because it interfered with air navigation and there were also concerns about the impact of fires that might arise when the balloons failed to fly and fell on people's houses.

For this reason, the Pekalongan City Government is holding the Mooring Hot Air Balloon Festival as a manifestation of maintaining tradition, as well as complying with Minister of Transportation Regulation no. 40 of 2018 concerning aviation safety. Apart from that, this festival has also become a destination and local wisdom of Pekalongan City after the giant lopis tradition.

For 2024, the Pekalongan City Mooring Balloon Festival will be attended by 73 participating teams and the preliminary stages will be held on April 13 and 14 2024. Meanwhile, today, April 17 2024, the grand final will be entered, which will be attended by the 30 best hot air balloons, held at Mataram Field at 05.00 WB and prize giving were held at Pasir Kencana Beach, Pekalongan.
