The number of working age residents in Pekalongan City in August 2022 was 241,572 people, an increase of 2,401 people compared to August 2021 which was 239,171 people. Among the working age population there are 169,940 people who are part of the labor force, of which the employed population is 161,470 people and the unemployed are 8,470 people. There will be a shift back from the workforce population in 2021 to non-labor force residents in 2022 after the pandemic ends and conditions return to normal.
