Rahyudin M.Si said that the poverty rate in Pekalongan City will increase in 2020. It is recorded that the poverty line in Pekalongan City in 2020 has increased from 425,026 rupiah to 502,031 rupiah. The number of poor people in this period reached 22.16 thousand people living below the poverty line, an increase of around 1.92 thousand people compared to 2019.
The percentage of poor people in Pekalongan City in 2020 increased to 7.17 percent from 6.60 percent previously. Meanwhile, other indicators have also increased. The poverty depth index, which describes the distance between the average expenditure of the poor and the poverty line, increased from 0.92 points in 2019 to 1.28 points in 2020. In addition, the poverty severity index also increased from 0.18 points in 2019 to 0.30 points by 2020. This index measures the inequality of spending among the poor.
In addition to the poverty rate, the Head of BPS for Pekalongan City also expressed his gratitude to the people of Pekalongan City for supporting the implementation of the 2020 Population Census of Pekalongan City. Currently, the data entry process for the 2020 Population Census has been completed.
